In just a few weeks, Express Employment Professionals will host one of its biggest days of service aimed at eliminating hunger, Brand It Blue Day.
This is the fourth year for offices to partner with local food banks or other agencies to provide meals for those in need across North America. Brand It Blue Day is scheduled for June each year, because summer is when hunger most affects families. Six out of seven low-income kids who eat a free or reduced-price school lunch during the academic year do not get a free meal during the summer, according to a study by the Food Research and Action Center.
That means it’s more important than ever to keep local food pantries stocked for the one in every seven people in the United States who rely on them for meals. Hunger also strikes closer to home, as illustrated by the “Hunger Has a Familiar Face” video.
In the past three years, Express donated more than 156,000 pounds of food through food drives and monetary donations! To learn how you can volunteer for Brand It Blue Day on Saturday, June 11, visit click here.
Express franchisees know how important it is to help as many people find good jobs by helping as many clients as possible find good people. Part of finding good people and clients is by giving back to the communities in which we live as part of the Express culture of caring.
Benefits of Giving Back
According to “4 Ways Your Company Benefits from Giving Back,” companies greatly benefit from giving back. Giving back builds respect and a good reputation in your community. The company’s leader can reach out to prominent local organizations or citizens to target specific needs in the community.
When businesses help other people, those people might want to support that business in the future. When the need arises, there will be people to recommend your services.
Giving back also makes your community a better place to live while improving the company’s image. Pick a cause that is close to your heart, like donating funds or time to fix up a local school or park.
Employees respect leaders who do good. Many employers get stuck in the daily grind without thinking about employee satisfaction or cohesion. When you focus on charity, it can make your company a positive force in the community, fostering more respect for your company’s leaders. Your employees are then more likely to refer your company to their friends, making charity good for morale and the bottom line.
If joining a company that gives back to the community, while also experiencing a record breaking $3.02 billion dollars in sales in 2015 sounds appealing to you, now is the time to join Express! Learn more about how to become your own boss at ExpressFranchising.com.
