Fighting Hunger in Communities

BIBD-LIIn just a few weeks, Express Employment Professionals will host one of its biggest days of service aimed at eliminating hunger, Brand It Blue Day.

This is the fourth year for offices to partner with local food banks or other agencies to provide meals for those in need across North America. Brand It Blue Day is scheduled for June each year, because summer is when hunger most affects families. Six out of seven low-income kids who eat a free or reduced-price school lunch during the academic year do not get a free meal during the summer, according to a study by the Food Research and Action Center.

That means it’s more important than ever to keep local food pantries stocked for the one in every seven people in the United States who rely on them for meals. Hunger also strikes closer to home, as illustrated by the “Hunger Has a Familiar Face” video.
