Between them, Tom and Stacy McManus have more than 40 years of business experience, five children, and a dream of owning their own business. After evaluating opportunities, they discovered that owning an Express Employment Professionals franchise offers the perfect fit for their family and future.
Congratulations to Tom and Stacy, owners of the new Express office in East Suffolk, NY!
From IT to Insurance
Tom has worked for 30 years in the information technology industry. As an IT management consultant, he focused on organizational efficiencies, revenue growth, IT transformation, portfolio management, and enterprise cloud initiatives.
Stacy has worked for 12 years as a licensed life and health insurance sales agent, serving companies with two to 1,000 employees. Stacy has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dowling College and a master’s degree in elementary education and special education.
“Tom and Stacy bring a great deal of combined business expertise, and they see this as a perfect time to support companies in the East Suffolk region with quality staffing assistance,” said Brook Wise, Regional Franchising Director for Express. “According to regional analysts, private sector jobs across Long Island grew by 17,200 between March and April, and that’s well above average.”
“Long Island is seeing top growth in the construction, retail, education and health services, business and professional services, and trade, transportation, and utilities industries,” Brook said. “Tom and Stacy look forward to helping businesses in the Suffolk region find the talent they need to succeed, and to help workers connect with the employment opportunities they seek.”
Finding Balance for Life and Work
With five children, ages five to 26, the McManus family puts a high priority on work-life balance. Tom coaches youth soccer. He also finds time to serve as a board member and working group chair of a Technical Standards body in the Music Industry, and as North American Technical Representative to the International Standards Organization of Collective Rights Societies.
Stacy serves as event coordinator for their local country club and class mom at school, as well as “Chief Operating Officer” for the McManus household.
“When Tom and Stacy explored viable franchise opportunities, Express stood out because the company provides a proven business model for success while allowing plenty of opportunity for them to spend time with their children and serve their community,” Brook said. “In 2014, Tom kayaked 17 miles across Long Island Sound to raise awareness for U.S. veterans. This is the kind of service that Express encourages and applauds among its franchisees.”
