Although his career started down one path, inspiration from his father led Adam Goddess to change course and pursue business ownership.
Goddess grew up close to Boston, MA, being motivated by his father who operates more than 30 breakfast franchises in the greater Boston area.
“I was inspired by my dad,” said Goddess. “He was always doing whatever he could to provide for his family.”
Watching his father operate so many locations, Goddess knew it was important to find a franchisor with great support, training, and follow through, so he sought out a career coach who put him in contact with a franchise recruiter. When the recruiter presented seven franchise options, including Express Employment Professionals, Goddess immediately identified Express as the number one option.
“It was exactly what I was looking for based on my experience,” said Goddess. “Express, to me, is really top notch. I just knew right away Express was it for me because I wanted to do something where I could positively impact people’s lives and truly help them.”
Soon, Goddess found himself being awarded the Newton, MA, Express location while he was on a plane returning home from Discovery Day in Oklahoma City. With an anticipated open date of April 2, Goddess is already fast at work assembling a team, setting goals, and following the Express system.
With more than 18 years as a leader for one of the world’s leading international travel companies, Goddess knows his prior experience will be beneficial.
“Everything was centered on customer experience,” said Goddess. “By providing a high-quality experience, we often saw customers coming back and referring their friends to us. It was a great cost-effective method to grow our customer numbers. I learned in the travel industry culture thrives with change, so you have to be able to not only change, but refocus when you encounter a challenge.”
“Not only is Adam a servant leader, he is hands-on, as well, and understands the big picture,” said Brook Wise, Senior Franchising Executive at Express. “He understands the relationship with the customer and the employee is most important.”
Goddess admits to being extremely competitive and already has his eyes on becoming the best office in New England. He often finds his motivation for success from those who haven’t believed in him by proving them wrong.
“I can’t wait to get out there and understand client needs, provide them with solutions, and find people jobs,” said Goddess. “I’ve talked with other Franchisees and several mentioned how former associates find them 4-5 years down the road and thank them for helping them. I want to make a difference and have people come thank me years later.”
