When you listen to Sondra Tawfik’s journey to joining the Express Employment Professionals family, you might start to pay more attention to the signs in your own life.
“I was at a crossroads in my career,” Tawfik said. “I didn’t just want to have a job anymore. I wanted to make an impact. I wanted something more.”
Although not originally looking at franchising, Tawfik admitted many things appealed to her about it.
“I wasn’t going into this alone,” she said. “Franchising has a proven business plan that I would be invested in and in return, there was a partner invested in me. The partner helps with the likelihood of success as well.”
While at the crossroads, Tawfik woke up one morning with a strong feeling in her heart and was determined to look at business possibilities. She Googled businesses available for sale in the territory of Morgan Hill, CA, and Express was the first one that showed up.
“I wrote a very casual message to a broker, and they got back to me in less than five minutes,” Tawfik said. “It was just the first one I reached out to and I didn’t put much thought into it, but I’m very confident God had his hand on me and guided me to Express.”
The more Tawfik thought about joining Express and the staffing industry, the more it made sense to her. Tawfik shared that throughout her career, friends would visit her and ask for help with their resume, preparing for interviews, networking, and finding jobs.
“Helping them was leading to good things for the people who’d ask me for help,” Tawfik said. “The simple thing that Express does is we help good people find good jobs. That really resonates with me. It is how I felt when I’ve helped people along the way and helped me connect to the values Express stands for.”
As Tawfik continued her journey with Express, she grew more certain Express was the choice for her.
“I kept seeing signs along the way that this is what I was supposed to do,” Tawfik said. “But when I walked up to Express Headquarters and saw ‘God Bless America’ on the building almost as big as the Express logo, I knew Express was it.”
Tawfik believes her entire career path has led her to becoming an Express Franchisee.
“I’ve learned a lot about leadership,” she said. “I know the importance of people and them working well together. It is important for people to feel appreciated and respected. I feel my personality and confidence has developed through my past experiences.”
Since being awarded the Morgan Hill, CA, territory Tawfik has remained focused and confident about the journey ahead.
“I’m in it for the long haul,” Tawfik said. “It is going to take time, but I want to be a top office. I have a great team and I want us to see the success we create not only for ourselves but for our clients and associates. Sundays have a whole new meaning for me. I’m excited because I’m going to work the next day and am getting a person a new job.”
Overall, Tawfik said the one word she would use to describe her journey to join Express is thankful.
“I’m just thankful that I reached this point in my career,” she said. “I’m thankful I have the opportunity to be my own business owner. I’m thankful I’m working with Express who are experts in this industry, share my value system, and are invested in my success.”
