Logan, UT, Franchisees Doug and Rebecca Anthony were recently named the recipients of the Freedom Award as part of the state’s annual Golden Key Awards program.

Every year, the Utah Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and their partners honor people and businesses with the Golden Key Award. It recognizes those who have helped promote employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The Freedom Award is given to honor those who champion the hiring and retention of veterans, an important part of the Logan team’s mission to serve their community.

“Rebecca and I opened an Express office because we knew that through the Express model we really could make a difference in our community,” Doug said. “One of the core values in our office is ‘Service – We are here to make good things happen for other people.’ That is something we are constantly focused on as a team. Being recognized for doing what we do is an honor and we’re proud to accept the Freedom Award for the State of Utah.”

The Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities and the Utah Business Leadership Network (UTBLN) invites community members to nominate local businesses that have gone above and beyond in their recruiting, hiring, retaining, and promoting of individuals with disabilities.

“As Express Franchisees, we feel like we have such an advantage over most businesses due to the information and training made available to us by Corporate,” Doug said. “We see so many businesses stuck in a rut, hiring and managing people the same way they did 20 years ago. Companies like Express have an opportunity to teach and lead by example by showing their respective business communities that it’s ok to change policies and procedures to accommodate a veteran who may not be available to work 40-hour work weeks. So many veterans have put it all on the line and we love them for that. Helping them find a job and going to bat for them is the least we can do.”

Doug and Rebecca will attend a ceremony at the Utah Governor’s Mansion on Oct. 16 to receive this prestigious award.
