Our Founders: Building a People-First Culture

William H. Stoller
Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the Board
William H. (Bill) Stoller (1951–2025) was the Founder, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Express Employment International. Prior to co-founding Express, Stoller began his career with Acme Personnel Services in 1973 as a consultant trainee. He went on to hold several leadership roles, including branch manager, group manager, district manager, and regional manager for Oregon and Utah.
Stoller also served as President of The Stoller Group, which owned multiple Express offices across Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado. In addition, he owned Xenium, a professional employer organization, as well as the Stoller Family Estate and Chehalem Winery and Vineyard, both located in Oregon.

Robert A. Funk
Founder, President, and Vice Chairman of the Board
Robert A. (Bob) Funk is Founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Express Employment International. Prior to co-founding Express, Funk gained experience with Acme Personnel Services, beginning as a personnel consultant and then climbing the ranks to First Vice President.
Funk graduated from Seattle Pacific University (SPU) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and theology. He continued his graduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and received his master’s degree in business administration and theology from SPU. He holds three honorary degrees: Doctor of Public Service from SPU (1995); Doctor of Law from Oklahoma Baptist University (2000); and Doctor of Law from Southern Nazarene University (2001).
